How do I use CSS to customize and format my Google Site?

Can I use custom CSS to customize and format my Google Site? I don't really like the page layout as the words seem to stretch from one side to another. Or, maybe you could suggest some other way to make the page on a Google site look better.

You can use the HTML Box tool, you can add HTML, CSS and Javascript into a Google Sites page. This can be found under the Insert menu.
