When editing your CSS file, do you back up the original by renaming or by downloading before you begin work? This could be a useful way to ensure you have a copy of the original if your changes don't look as you want.
I make a full backup of all site files every so often but I don't specifically backup my CSS files before editing. cntrl + z can usually fix any problems that I face caused from editing it.
