Why are some of the companies preferring Drag and Drop?

There are many companies that are preferring the use of Drag and Drop. The reason they explain us, is of time i.e. making applications in a short time.
Is drag and drop really helpful for us? Or disastrous?

That's a good question, I used to hate it until I got 2 monitors. It became easier and faster to drag from one monitor to the second connected.
