Thimble will help you code!

Thimble is an online code editor offered by Mozilla, it is the best place if you want to learn coding but don’t know where to start. What I like from this service is that, you can start to code your own project from scratch, or you can edit some of their projects that are already published there.

Just an example of coding with Thimble


And this is very important because editing other projects will improve you to understand how coding works.

Another great thing from Thimble is that you can publish your own project there, to do that you need only to register your account, and that’s it.

I started a project, the editor is very cool. This is just a simple HTML editor though? You can't actually do any real code?

I don't understand what exactly prompted Mozilla to create Thimble. I know they are trying to make the web "open source", and available to all, but what exactly does an online editor do? There are plenty of online editors out there, what made Mozilla think that they should create one too?

I think the editor is very sleek, and easy to use. As Robertman11 already stated "You can't actually do any real code?". This is what gets me. Surely there is many HTML/CSS editors, but there isn't as many editors that actually allow code like PHP or Python. Why doesn't Mozilla create an editor for programmers to use, or even newbies to learn code.

Another thing worth mentioning, I like how they give you a preview of what your CSS/HTML will look like on mobile phone devices. Unfortunately they don't show previews of how the HTML/CSS will look like if rendered on a iPod, or even a Kindle.
